Zenola P. Hooper

YORK – Zenola P. (Lewis) Hooper, 76, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023 at UPMC-West Shore. She was the wife of the late Dorsey W. Hooper, II.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 1165 East Prospect St., York. A visitation will be held from 12-1:00 PM Saturday at the Church with Rev. Ryan Johnson officiating. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.

Born November 3, 1946 in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Arlethia (May) Sheppard Lewis and Richard Baker Lewis; she was a graduate of William Penn High School in Philadelphia and Peirce Junior College. Over the years she had served as a Director at a Greater Philadelphia Girl Scouts of America Camp Noname; worked at Junior Achievement in York; and owned her own jewelry business, Bzefngrs, where she could enjoy her love of arts and crafts. Zenola was a Charter member of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where she was very active and served as a Deaconess, Pastor’s Aide, Usher Board, Travel Ministry, and Chorus member.

Mrs. Hooper is survived by two daughters, Cheryl L. and husband Ogden Dickerson of Dover and Carmelia F. Pinder of Philadelphia; two sons, Dorsey W. Hooper, III of Dover and Sheldon T. and wife Shawnee Hooper of York; eight grandchildren, Amber and husband Neil, Evandon, Cameron, Symone, Kelci, Maya, Jordyn, and Miranda; three great grandchildren, Talia, Lennox, and Khayman Royce; two sisters, Arlethia “Lee” Wright of Chicago and Barbara Lewis of Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Deborah Hooper of Philadelphia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
