Yvonne Ruth (Smith) Snyder

YORK- Yvonne Ruth (Smith) Snyder, our beloved mother, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven early evening, Saturday, May 27, 2017. She was the wife of the late Harold Joseph “Hammer” Snyder, to whom she was married 55 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Springvale United Methodist Church, 265 Circle Drive, Red Lion, with Pastor Thomas Osenbach officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Yvonne was born on January 28, 1939, at home, to Richard and Ruth (Detwiler) Smith. As a child she enjoyed days spent playing on her grandparents, Amos and Esther Detwiler’s farm. It was in that area where she later met Harold Snyder, they fell in love and were married in the church they both attended, Springvale United Methodist Church in Red Lion. There is only one way to describe Yvonne throughout her life. She was a Saint; she touched the lives of many and will be remembered for giving with all her generous spirit. She raised many children that were not her own and was always willing to put the needs of others first. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, loved her, and were loved by her. Yvonne was an endless homemaker, excellent cook and enjoyed crafts, especially weaving baskets and creating wreaths. Mrs. Snyder is survived by her five loving children, Blaine Snyder and wife, Annie of York Haven, Debra Lau of Felton, Donna Kauffman of York, Daniel Snyder and wife, Brenda of Dallastown, and Mary Wherley and her husband Lowell of York; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Richard Smith of Georgia and Greg Smith of Felton; a sister, Leah Lutz and her husband Bill of Delaware, and an abundance of nieces and nephews. As a family, we would like to say, To The Best Mother In The World… WE LOVE YOU MOM! We would also like to give a special Thank You to the staff of Manor Care North, who took great care of our mother during her last weeks with us here on earth.
