Yvonne M. “Vonnie” (Glatfelter) Jackson

SPRINGFIELD TWP. Yvonne M. “Vonnie” (Glatfelter) Jackson, 76, passed away at 5:20 PM Saturday, September 13, 2014, at her home with her family at her side. She was the wife of Robert L. Jackson with whom she celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary on October 16, 2013. A celebration of life service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 20, 2014 at York Alliance Church, 501 Rathton Rd., York with the Rev. Timothy L. Shuey officiating. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewings will be from 6 to 8:00 PM Friday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and 9 to 10:00 AM Saturday at the church. Mrs. Jackson was born December 16, 1937, in Stoverstown. She was the daughter of the late Ralph C. and Sylvia (Folkenroth) Glatfelter. She was a loving homemaker with much of her life being built around her family. She cherished spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her gentle, calming personality and her friends and family will miss her simple words of wisdom. In addition to feeding and watching the birds gather around her birdfeeder, she especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family cabin. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jacobus and was a former Den Mother and Scout Leader. She also appreciated the many years she was able to volunteer with Contact York. She was a former Teacher’s Aide at Loganville – Springfield Elementary School and assisted her husband with the family business, R. L. Jackson Construction. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jackson is survived by her five sons, Jeffery Jackson and wife, Linda of Seven Valleys, Terry Jackson and wife, Sheila of Dallastown, Danny Jackson and wife, Tina of York, James Jackson and wife, Lisa of York and Todd Jackson and wife, Belinda of York; her daughter, Brenda Willwert and husband, John of Red Lion; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Gentzler and Cindy Mitzel, both of York; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Jackson; 5 brothers, Ralph Glatfelter, Jr., Carlton, Alvin, Nevin, and Ammon Glatfelter; and three sisters, Vietta Austin, Julia Meckley, and Rovena Robertson.
