Yvonne E. Wanbaugh

RED LION- Yvonne E. (Grothey) Wanbaugh, 65, of Windsor Township, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Randal E. Wanbaugh. The couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on September 6, 2015. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 9-10 a.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Mrs. Wanbaugh was born in York on February 15, 1951, the daughter of Gertrude Eileen (Waltimyer) Grothey of Hanover and the late Charles Edward Grothey. She retired after 40 years of service as a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital. She specialized in pediatric nursing because she loved helping children, and conducted nurse education seminars at the hospital. Mrs. Wanbaugh loved animals, especially cats, enjoyed her visits to Williamsburg, VA, and was an avid reader of books. She served several years on the Make-A-Wish Foundation of York County. Along with her husband she leaves a daughter, SaraBeth Fulton and her husband Mark of Shippensburg; a grandson, Evan Fulton; two brothers, Michael Grothey and his wife Terrie of Dover and Kenneth Grothey and his wife Maze of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Grothey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
