Winona Jean (Slocum) Tillotson

WELLSBURG - Winona Jean (Slocum) Tillotson, formerly of Lowman and Elmira Heights, NY and beloved wife, dearly loved mother and grandmother, saw Jesus face to face on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. We miss her greatly, but draw comfort in knowing she is in His Presence. She was born July 4, 1926 in Hoisington, KS the daughter of the late Irvin R. and Pearl I. (Gilmore) Slocum. She and Lewis O. Tillotson became husband and wife on July 31, 1943 and enjoyed 67 years of marriage. For many years Jean worked as a waitress and short order cook in Towanda, PA. She was well known for the pies she baked each morning before the restaurant opened for business. Jean was very humble and was a loving wife and mother who dearly loved her lord, husband and children. Jean is survived by her husband of 67 years Lewis Tillotson of Elmira Heights, her son Bob & Toni Tillotson of Lugoff, SC, and her daughters Gloria & Pete Brown of Pine City, NY and Kathleen Benjamin of Elmira, NY, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Jean is predeceased by her daughter Rebecca Tillotson Philippi a grandson John Robert Tillotson, one sister and three brothers. Family and friends are invited to call from 12 to 1 PM Friday, October 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Horseheads, 2293 Grand Central Ave, Horseheads, NY. A service to celebrate her life and give glory to Lord will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1 PM with Pastor James Mott, Pastor Robert Finch and Pastor Sidney Aldrich officiating. Interment will be private in Riverside Cemetery, Lowman, NY.
