YORK- Winifred “Winnie” Louise (Moody) Dawson, 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at her residence. She was the companion of Lewis E. Wentz of York for over 50 years. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with a celebration of life tribute service to follow at 12 p.m. with the Reverend Bonnie J. Whittier officiating. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry. Born on June 1, 1931 in York, she was the daughter of the late Russell S. and Goldie Irene (Harten) Moody. Winnie was employed with AMF, now Harley-Davidson, from 1966 until retiring in 1998. Winnie was a member of Mt. Airy United Methodist Church in Wellsville, Shiloh American Legion Post 791 Ladies Auxiliary and the IAM Union. Her biggest love was her family and friends. Along with her companion, Lewis, Winnie is survived by four sons, John Ross, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Carlisle, Ricky Ross and his wife, Joyce of Newport, Timothy Ross and his wife, Juanita of Canton and William Dawson and his wife, Robin of Wellsville; two daughters, Teresa Ross of Wellsville and Sherry Dawson and her companion, Gary Wasbers of York; seven granddaughters, Kendal Thomas and her husband, Adam, Tammy Trostle and her husband, Andy, Crystal Scrivens and her husband, Les, Shawnta Ross, Jamie Wolf and her husband, Travis, Elizabeth Dawson and Olivia Dawson; one grandson, Boudi Dawson; 30 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; brother, Russell Moody, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dogs she loved so much, Princess Pat and Lucy Lu Lu. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Irene Ross; two sisters, Geraldine Moody Lloyd and Shirley Irene Moody Tarbert; three brothers, Raymond Moody, Larry Moody and Barry Moody; half-sister, Beatrice Shean; half-brother, Conway Ditlow; three grandsons, Robert Wiley, Troy Ross and John Waters; great grandson, John "Hudson" Wolfe and her sweet dog, Lacy Jane.
