RED LION - Wilson H. “Sonny” Myers, Jr., 65, died on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at York Hospital after a courageous year and a half battle with cancer. He was the husband of Kathleen A. (Breen) Myers. The couple would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in July. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with his pastor, the Reverend Phyllis A. Hunter and former pastor, the Reverend Joseph N. Yorks officiating. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born on July 23, 1947 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late Wilson H. and Ruth M. (Fake) Myers, Sr. Wilson started his career as a woodworker for Guy Hobbs, later worked as a Plant Manager for Keltrol Enterprises and R.F. Kelly & Co. and most recently worked maintenance for the Red Lion American Legion Post #543. Mr. Myers was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where he served in various offices. He was also a member of the Red Lion American Legion Post #543 and was a former Boy Scout Leader. Wilson enjoyed making fudge, ice cream and pancakes for his family and enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Baltimore Orioles. “Sonny” also spent time tinkering in his garage. Along with his wife, Kathleen, Wilson is survived by three sons, Wilson Myers III and his companion, Tammy Kohler of Red Lion, Dennis Myers and his companion, Dawn Stough of Felton and David Myers of Red Lion; two daughters, Angela Gibson and her husband, Jeff of York and Krista Confer of Windsor; nine grandchildren, Savannah Myers, Thomas Myers, Zachary Seitz, Amber Myers, Alexander Gibson, Kyle Confer, Brittany Huffaker, Julia Gibson and Megan Confer; great granddaughter, Brielle Myers and a great grandchild that is expected; three brothers, Rueben Myers and his wife, Susan of Thomasville, William Myers and his wife, Barbara of Red Lion and Paul Myers and his wife, Evonne of Felton; three sisters, Naomi Heffner of Red Lion, Esther Dettinger and her husband, Richard of Red Lion and Martha Shirey and her husband, Raymond of York; many nieces and nephews; and his Jack Russell Terrier, Bella.
