YORK - Wilson E. Ness, 93, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the faithful husband of Hilda M. (Grove) Ness to whom he was married for 69 years on October 12, 2009. Born July 30, 1916 in York a son of the late Robert C. and Mary E. (Strickler) Ness, he retired from the maintenance department at York Hospital in 1982 after 22 years of service; and also was a part-time farmer. Mr. Ness was an avid collector who accumulated collections of many things from mechanical coin banks to albums of newsworthy events cut out of the newspaper. He was a member of Red Lion Zion United Methodist Church, the former Men's Sunday School Class, and the original Church "Crab Cake Gang." He was kindhearted, gentle, and loved by all. His quiet influence and love of all people leaves a legacy for all to emulate. In addition to his wife, Mr. Ness is survived by his beloved daughter, Brenda L. and husband Richard Peters of York; two beloved grandsons, Bradley E. and wife Denise Peters and Brian T. Peters; a great granddaughter, McKenzie Q. Peters; two brothers, Elmer T. Ness and Robert C. Ness both of York; a sister, Mildred M. Hull of Waynesboro; and a brother in law, Dale Snyder of York; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna K. Snyder. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2010 at Red Lion Zion U. M. Church, 1155 Felton Rd., Red Lion with his pastor, The Rev. James C. House officiating. A viewing will be held from 12-1:00 PM Tuesday at the Church. Burial will be held at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion U.M. Church, 1155 Felton Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
