William Wilson Hershner

Felton—William Wilson Hershner, 91, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at his residence in E. Hopewell Township. He was the husband of Hilda R. (Geiselman) Hershner to whom he was married for 66 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Monday, April 22, 2013 at Round Hill Presbyterian Church, 7362 Church Rd, Felton, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Chester V. Joines officiating. Viewings will be held from 4-6 PM, Sunday, at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from10-11 AM, Monday, at the church. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 5 PM Sunday. Burial will be held in Round Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Born July 22, 1921 in Cross Roads, he was a son of the late John D. and Florence E.C. (Keesey) Hershner. Mr. Hershner was named for his grandfathers, William Hershner and Wilson Keesey. He graduated from Red Lion High School with the class of 1939. Mr. Hershner owned and managed his farm near Cross Roads for many years. In addition to managing the farm he was also employed by Tollinger Bus Company, Fulton Mehring and Hauser and Superior Mold Builders. He was a life member of Round Hill Presbyterian Church and a church elder since the age of 30. He was a founding Trustee of Hershaull Park, a community park formed by neighborhood churches on land donated in part by Mr. Hershner’s father and mother. He was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons, Friendship Lodge 663, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine of Harrisburg, York County Shrine Club, Red Lion Scottish Rite and Stewartstown Lions Club. He loved to travel with his wife; together they visited several countries and 49 different states. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hershner is survived by two sons, W. David Hershner and wife, Brenda of Shrewsbury and Ronald L. Hershner and wife, Judith of York; four grandchildren, W. Andrew Hershner, Marleigh I. Hershner, John W.S. Hershner and Wesley D.H. Hershner; three step grandchildren, one great granddaughter, one step great grandson; two sisters, Vivian Manifold of New Park and Clara Weigard of Mechanicsburg and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Round Hill Presbyterian Church, 7362 Church Rd, Felton, PA 17322.
