William T. Shryock

York—William T. Shryock, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his residence in York Township. He was the husband of Orpha V. (Keiser) Shryock. The couple celebrated 68 years of marriage on August 24th. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born January 17, 1926 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Jesse L. and Clara C. (Shindledecker) Shryock. He was a 1943 graduate of Gettysburg High School. He was a self-employed carpenter and small business owner of William Shryock Building since 1953. A United States Navy Veteran of World War II, he served in the Medical Battalion with the 5th Marine Division in Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He was also a member of the York Township Lions Club, American Legion and an avid Baltimore Orioles Fan. William and his wife enjoyed traveling the country visiting his friends he served with in the military. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shryock is also survived by one daughter, Margo E. McGuigan and her husband, Keith of Dallastown; two grandchildren, Matthew McCrae McGuigan and his wife, Alexis and Kelli A. Wise and her husband, Brian; seven great grandchildren, Hope, Autumn, Jack, Bryn, Coleman, Liam and Gavin. He was preceded in death by a son, McCrae T. Shryock and a sister, Mary S. Miller.
