REHOBOTH BEACH, DE- William S. Hanna, 89, formerly of Red Lion, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 14, 2010. He was the husband of Annabell (Smith) Hanna. The couple celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on November 2, 2010. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a viewing from 9-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Hanna was born in Fawn Grove on October 17, 1921, a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Pomraning) Hanna. He made his career in the garment manufacturing industry retiring in 1983. Mr. Hanna had been a long time member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Red Lion, where he taught Sunday school, served as an assistant to the pastor, and enjoyed working with the Youth Fellowship. He was a former member of the Red Lion Lions Club and served on the Red Lion Borough Council. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the beach and fishing along the Delaware coast with his nephew Roy. He served in WWII in the 8th Air Force as a Radio Operator on a B-17. He and his fellow crewmen completed 32 bombing missions all over Europe. Mr. Hanna leaves a son, Stephen and his wife Connie of Dallastown; a daughter, Susan Criswell and her husband Carl of Red Lion; four grandchildren, Lucas Hanna and Brooks Hanna of Dallastown, Daniel Criswell and his wife Kristine of Dallastown, and Michael Criswell and his wife Holly of Milton, DE; and three great grandchildren, Evelyn, Andrew, and Annabell.
