STEWARTSTOWN – William "Bill" S. Eyster, Jr., 92, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Janet L. (Eaton) Eyster.
A Graveside Service will take place at 11 AM, Friday, October 20, 2023 located at Stewartstown Cemetery on Cemetery Avenue, with military honors performed by York County Veterans Honor Guard and Pastor Larry Parlett officiating the service. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., Red Lion, is helping the family with arrangements.
Born October 3, 1931 in Stewartstown, he was a son of the late William S. Eyster, Sr., also known as Stanley W., and Mary (Hirt) Eyster.
Mr. Eyster was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1955 where he served in the Korean Conflict. After his service, he worked at USPS as a rural letter carrier for over 30 years. Bill was a member of Potosi Church, a lifetime member of Eureka Fire Company, a founding member of Hopewell Fish and Game and an active supporter of Friends of Gettysburg.
Mr. Eyster is survived by a son Todd Eyster of Stewartstown, as well as a sister Joyce Heicher. He is preceded in death by his wife Janet L. (Eaton) Eyster; a twin brother who died in infancy, Robert E. and two brothers Lloyd J. Eyster and Blakely A. Eyster.
