William R. Kerr

York—William (Bill) R. Kerr, 81, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 28, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Marlene M. (Lindstrom) Kerr to whom he was married for 63 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave, York with his pastor, the Rev. Gregory D. Wahlberg officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11AM, at the church. The burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born June 26, 1935 in York, he was the son of the late Albert and Lestie (Becker) Kerr. He began his career as a machinist working for his future father-in-law at Lindstrom Machine Shop. Bill later became co-owner of the machine shop until his retirement in 1997. Bill attended Calvary Baptist Church for over 20 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with family. Another one of Bill's passions was traveling the world with his wife. They traveled to 45 countries and 44 states. In addition to his wife, Bill is also survived by three children, Scott L. Kerr and wife, Arlene of York, Robin C. Blair and husband, Andrew of York and Paul D. Kerr and wife, Susan of East Berlin; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Kerr and Gary Kerr; six sisters, Carolyn Kohler, Marian Albaugh, Janet Forte, Joan Rau, Alice Myers and Sue Aldinger. He was preceded in death by three siblings Albert Kerr, Treva Stoner and Richard Kerr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave, York, Pa 17404.
