William R. "Bill" Baughman

William R. “Bill” Baughman, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017. He was the loving husband of Janice E.K. (Kierstead) Baughman for 39 years. He was born July 8, 1927 in Winterstown, the son of Marcellus M. and Dora (Mitzel) Baughman. Bill was formerly a farmer, Caterpillar Inc. employee, a Realtor/Broker, co-owner of Baughman-Leader Real Estate and owner of Baughman Realtors. He also served on the York County Board of Assessment Appeals for 18 years. Bill served in the United States Merchant Marine in the South Pacific during World War II. As a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Bill served as a Stephen Minister. Bill has 3 daughters, Rosalyn Waltersdorff, Beverly Hogan and Sharon Landis; 3 sons, William R. Baughman, Jr. (deceased), Robert Baughman and Bruce Baughman; 2 step-sons, Brent Lundgren and David Lundgren. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. He also has 3 brothers; Irvin Baughman of York, Harold Baughman of California and Paul Baughman (deceased) Bill’s name is on the “Wall of Cure” as a donor to the York Hospital Trauma Unit. He enjoyed large family gatherings, golfing and traveling. He took 13 cruises, visited Israel, Egypt, Canada and several other countries in Europe and many states in the U.S. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM, Monday, January 30, 2017 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Rd., York. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rick Smith and Rev. Richard Bowers. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM, Monday at the church. Burial will be held in Mount Rose Cemetery with full military honors provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Rd, York, Pa 17403 or a charity of your choice.
