William M. Strouse

MILL HALL - William Michael Strouse, 63, passed away on Saturday September 1, 2012 at his home where he was surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 3, 1949 to Stanley Strouse and Cecelia Delaney. He lived on the family’s dairy farm with his six brothers and sisters, which is where his incredible work ethic was engrained at a very young age. After graduating Bald Eagle Nittany High School in 1968, Mike started his career in road construction. Mike’s love was his work, second only to providing for his family. He worked in road construction his entire career; with his last 28 years at HRI Inc., where he was fondly know as a “The Master of All Trades”. Some of his major accomplishments were the work he performed on the Lock Haven Dike, Interstate 80, the 220 Bypass and I-99 in State College. Some of Mike’s favorite hobbies were his annual vegetable garden, with all the produce grown going to Mike’s family and friends; being a master craftsman and enjoying coffee and conversation with all the fine folks at the Texas Restaurant. Mike was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. This was a tough in “Steeler Country” and Mike would be reminded of this every Friday night from his fellow members of the Sons of Italy. He is survived by his son Michael of Willington, DE; his daughter Jennifer and son in law Robert Gibbs of Philadelphia, Pa; former wife of 32 years Rosanne Strouse of Woolrich; sister Gloria (Gilbert) Collins; brother Jeremiah (Tara) Strouse; sister Rosetta (Charles) Rockey; sister Jean (Clair-deceased) Schrack; brother James (Virginia) Strouse and sister Mary (Robert) Miller. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. Agnes Church Holy Spirit Parish, 3 East Water Street, Lock Haven with the Rev. Joseph Orr officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, (Clinton Unit) 1948 E. Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701. Interment will be private. Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall has charge of arrangements.
