William M. 'Bill' Gibb

York—William M. “Bill” Gibb, 62, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at his residence in Springettsbury Township. He was the husband of Ellen J. (Hain) Gibb. The couple celebrated 33 years of marriage on April 14th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Friday, July 27, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Brian A. McClinton of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in York officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born March 12, 1950 in Ellwood City, he was a son of the late Raymond E. and Edith E. (Martin) Gibb. He graduated from Red Lion High School in 1968 and earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Lock Haven University. Later he concluded his education at Millersville University, where he received a master’s degree in mathematics education. He started his teaching career with St. Francis Prep School in Spring Grove. From there he went to teach mathematics at Northeastern High School for 21 years until his retirement in 2006. After retiring he taught classes in the fall at York College. An avid Penn State football fan, he also raised several litters of English Labrador Retrievers. He was a member of the Hawks Club, York County Kennel Club and the American Kennel Club. He enjoyed road trips “to nowhere” with his wife, driving his camaro and playing golf with his friends from Northeastern. In addition to his wife, Mr. Gibb is also survived by one daughter, Abegale J. “Abby” Gibb of York; one son, Jason W. Gibb of York; one brother, Robert Gibb and his wife, Jean of Lititz; two sisters, Phyllis Short and her husband, Tom of S. Euclid, OH and Barbara Fake of Red Lion and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Harding Safer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Spastic Paraplegia Foundation, Inc., P.O.
