William Lynn Medland

DALLASTOWN- William Lynn Medland, 69, of York Township, died, Thursday, October, 25, 2012 at Rest Haven in York. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Russell) Medland. The couple celebrated their 48th anniversary on May 7th. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 9-10 a.m. Reverend Kevin T. Shively will be officiating at the service. Mr. Medland was born in Columbus, OH on May 28, 1943, son of the late William Lynn Medland, Sr. and the late Grace Lucile (Weikart) Medland. He worked for 28 years for Global Stone and PenRoc Quarry in West York; prior to that he worked as a manager for Ponderosa Steak House in York. Mr. Medland was a 1969 Graduate of Ohio State University and received his Masters Degree in English from Millersville University in 1993. He was a member of Pennsylvania Poetry Society, California Poetry Society; and he wrote and judged poetry contests. Mr. Medland Leaves a son, William L. Medland, III of Reno, NV; two daughters, Kathryn A. Medland and her husband Michael Crow of Takoma Park, MD and Bronwyn J. (Medland) Gagne and her husband, Bruce of Charles Town, WV; four grandchildren, Cooper and Calvin Gagne and Eli and Margaret Crow; and two brothers, Fredric D. Medland of Plain City, OH and Charles G. Medland of Harpers Ferry, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater PA Chapter, 3544 N.
