William L. Kennedy, Jr.

Dillsburg - William L. Kennedy, Jr., 78, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services North in York. He was the husband of Darline G. (Grimm) Kennedy and the late Dollie (Markley) Kennedy. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Pinchot Park Assembly of God Church, 2755 Rosstown Road, Wellsville, with his Pastor, Timothy Imes officiating. A viewing will be held from 5-7 PM prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dillsburg. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry, is in charge of arrangements. Born December 27, 1935 in Bowmansdale, William was a son of the late William L. and Agnes R. (Springer) Kennedy. He worked as a machinist for American Can Company in Lemoyne for 31 years until his retirement in June of 1985. Mr. Kennedy was a member of the Pinchot Park Assembly of God Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg, the South Mountain CB Club, Club Horizon, the NRA, and the North American Hunting Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kennedy is survived by seven sons, Gene Kennedy and his wife Karen of Mechanicsburg, Carl Kennedy of Mechanicsburg, William J. Kennedy and his wife Jennie of Gardners, Ken Groff and his wife Deb of Etters, Ricky Groff and his wife Janet of New Cumberland, Ed Groff and his wife Lois of Dover, and Gary Bupp and his wife Susan of Carlisle; a daughter, Patricia McMillen and her husband Joe of Duncannon; two step sons, Scott Grimm of Felton, and Joe Brown and his wife Kristy of York; a step daughter, Sandra Pippin and her husband Jerry of Yoe; 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Dean Kennedy and his wife Nancy of Dillsburg and two sisters, Shirley Gochenauer and her husband Curvin of Roxbury and Lois Rheam and her husband Larry of Shermansdale. Along with his first wife and parents, William was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Ryan Kennedy and Gregory Groff, and a brother, Jack Kennedy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pinchot Park Assembly of God Church, 2755 Rosstown Road, Wellsville, PA 17365.
