William L. Heist

William L. Heist, 79, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Roberta G. (Bankard) Heist. Funeral service and burial will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born December 13, 1936 in Hanover, a son of the late Irvin and Estella (Hahn) Heist, he was a graduate of Hanover High School. Mr. Heist was retired from the PA State Police. He was a member of PA State Police Retiree’s Assoc. Mr. Heist is survived by two sons, Jeffrey A. and wife Cindy Heist of York and Michael I. Heist of Hancock, VT; a daughter, Christine R. and husband Douglas Haffner of Dover; five grandchildren, Heath, Lindsay, Leigh, Harrison, and Shane; one great granddaughter, Sophia; a brother, Wayne Heist of Hellam; and a sister, Sandy Wentz of New Oxford.
