William Kenneth 'Bill' Myers

WILLIAMSPORT - William Kenneth Bill Myers, 86, of 505 Center St., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his home. He was born on February 2, 1925 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Rudolph and Hilda (Butler) Myers. On October 6, 1946, he married the late Lillian L. (Hamilton) who had died in October 2002. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII. He had worked at the Sun Gazette for 44 years then retired. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, former senior choir member, member of the Trustee Board and member of the male chorus. He was an avid bike rider, loved to read, write and send cards to people. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. William is survived by one daughter; Jacqueline J. Myers of Williamsport, one son and daughter-in-law; Kenneth W. and Shelley of Williamsport, one grandson; Kenneth William-Benjamin Myers, II of Williamsport, one sister; Rachel Pitts-Womack and her husband James of Steelton, one brother-in-law James Jamison and his wife Grace of Andover, MD and one sister-in-law; Ethel Myers of Virginia. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and four step grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Wesley and Paul Myers and one son; Keith S. Myers. There will be a memorial service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 527 Park Ave., Williamsport with the Reverend Charles V. Daniels, Sr. officiating. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 at the church. Interment will be held later at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Arrangements are being held by the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
