HANOVER TOWNSHIP-William J. Zupancic, 89, of Hanover Township, passed away Tuesday evening in Hospice Community Care, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Carbondale on February 4, 1920, he was a son of the late Francis L. and Frances (Bella) Zupancic. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Prior to retiring, he was a coal miner in the Anthracite Region and was also employed by Hart & Company, Mountain Top. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6227, Parsons. William was an avid writer and published articles in FATE. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Grace Elizabeth Snyder; son, James; several brothers and sisters. Surviving are his sons, William, Exeter; David and Frank, both of Hanover Township; daughters, Carol O'Donnell, Elaine Burkeholder, Sandra Hoffman and son-in-law Michael O'Brien, and Janis Kruszka, all of Hanover Township; Sharon Fritz, Wilkes-Barre; Gloria Blizzard, Avoca; Debbie Wolffe, Hunlock Creek; Patricia French, Larksville, Susan Miczkowski, Alden; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Julia, Pittsburgh. The funeral service will be held Friday evening at 8 p.m. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. The Reverend Andrea McDonnel will officiate. Private interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cemetery.
