William H. Hawkes, Iii

WILLIAMSPORT - William H. Hawkes, III., 61, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, one day before his 62nd birthday. Born May 22, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William H. Hawkes, Jr. and Bernice Smith Hawkes. He graduated from Abington Senior High School, Abington, PA in 1967 and Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, PA in 1971. He completed courses through Penn State and became a certified paralegal in 1992. Throughout his career, he took many insurance courses through the different insurance companies.. Bill had an extensive background in insurance sales beginning in 1971 through 1991 with New York Life Insurance, Mutual & United of Omaha, Aetna, Provident Mutual, and MASS Mutual. In 1992, he opened his own Insurance and Financial Planning office in Williamsport. He was a board member of the Ross Club, Williamsport, PA and a past member of the Lock Haven and Williamsport Rotary Clubs and the Boy Scouts of America, Williamsport, PA. He was also a past member on the Board of Trustees for the Historical Society and on the Red Cross Board of Directors. He is survived by his spouse, Jeanne C. Hawkes, Williamsport and a daughter, Angelique H. Caffrey (Brian), Camp Hill, PA. He is also survived by a grandson, Patrick H. Caffrey. His survivors include a sister, Nancy Sterner (Frank), Reading, PA and a brother, Charles D. Hawkes, Etters, PA. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Karen D. Hawkes. A private graveside service will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven, PA. Arrangements are being handled by the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, Williamsport, PA.
