YORK – William G. “Wild Bill” McKinsey, Jr., 69, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his home. He was the husband of Savilla J. (Roth) McKinsey to whom he was married for 44 years.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Wild Bill’s last ride will be on the Harley Davidson Hearse to Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
Bill was born on November 27, 1955 in Stewartstown, a son of the late Norma J. (Smith) and William G. McKinsey, Sr. Over the years he used his automobile mechanic and body work skills to own and operate Bill’s Body Shop and Wild Bill’s Bike Shop. He also worked a number of years at Susquehanna Grinding. Wild Bill loved nothing more than working on cars and motorcycles, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, and building anything. He enjoyed competing in drag races and demolition derbies. His kind heart, love of animals, and desire to do wild and crazy things made him a favorite with the kids.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two brothers, Ricky L. and wife Jennifer McKinsey of Red Lion and Ray E. and wife Alex McKinsey of Mountaintop, PA; a sister, Patricia Cobb of Wrightsville; his second cousin and "son he never had" Danny Shenk of East Prospect; nieces and nephews; three God children, Taten, Dontae, and Dejya Mason; and three dogs, Snoop, Little John, and Dodger; and his macaw, Millie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 www. ycspca.org
