William "Jay" Evans, III

YORK - William "Jay" Evans, III, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024. He was the loving husband of Bonita (Magee) Evans, and the couple spent 51 wonderful years together.

Born March 10, 1951 in Gettysburg, Jay was a son of the late Clayton and Annamae (Davidson) Evans. After high school, Jay attended trade school for photography, and he used the skills he learned working for Hayman Studio. Jay and Bonita were members of PACE Miata Club, and with the club they had many wonderful memories and adventures. Jay could also be found at the West York Sportsman Club, or building model planes and tanks. Above everything else, Jay loved his family.

In addition to his beloved wife, Jay leaves behind his two daughters, Carrie Graff and her husband Daniel of York, and Kathryn Evans of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Madison Graff, Clayton Graff, and Daniel Graff, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Cayden Graff and Samuel Graff; a sister, Janice Oaster of Dover; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Jay is preceded in death by a brother, James Evans. 

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc is assisting with arrangements.
