William E. Weitkamp

DOVER – William E. Weitkamp, 77, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at his home. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Smallwood) Weitkamp who passed away on July 14th. William and Shirley were married for 37 years. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. William was born November 19, 1943 in York, a son of the late Erney F. and Lillian E. (Butcher) Weitkamp. He began working at Pepsi Co., then moving to Caterpillar Inc., where he spent the majority of his career and retired after many years of service. Following his retirement, he had worked as a heating and air conditioning mechanic with Shipley Energy. William was a former member at Hawks Gunning Club and was an avid hunter in his younger years. William loved spending time with his wife Shirley and they did everything together; from playing cards, vacationing, going to the movies and playing bingo. Mr. Weitkamp is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth A. Newman of York; two sons, Brian E. Weitkamp and companion Vicky Phelps of Gettysburg and Michael E. Weitkamp and companion Lisa Ehrhart of Newberrytown; a stepson, Brian Harlacker of Newberrytown; six grandchildren, Sara, Timothy, Abby, Alex, Joseph and Weston; seven great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Patricia Myers of Dover; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Smallwood of Hanover.
