William E. Dunlap, Sr.

YORK- William E. Dunlap, Sr., 79, of York Township, died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley E. (Tyson) Dunlap. The couple celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on April 27, 2007. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Dunlap was born in Rinley on August 1, 1928, a son of the late Hugh J. and Pauline G. (Brown) Dunlap. He worked for Yorktown Kitchens, owned and operated Dunlap's Top Shop and then retired from Zell Brothers. Mr. Dunlap was a member of Red Lion American Legion post 543 for 51 years and was a member of York Moose Lodge. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Dunlap leaves three daughters: Lori Allen and her husband Terry, Tori Tanner and her husband Zack, and Stacey Jenc and her husband John; two sons: William Dunlap, Jr. and his wife Ginny and Shawn Dunlap and his wife Cyndi; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Also eight sisters: Merle McLaughlin, Helen Flinchbaugh, Betty Schoaff, Janet Ness, Mary Woolen, Anna Boyd, Shirl Shenberger, and Lois Bastress, three brothers: H. James Dunlap, David Dunlap, and John Dunlap, and nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded him in death: Harold, Glenn and Curvin. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 140 Roosevelt Ave., Suite 208, York, PA 17401.
