YORK- William E. Brenneman, 85, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Marie L. (Stough) Brenneman. The couple would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this coming June. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, with his Pastor, Reverend Keith C. Fair officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be private in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born November 13, 1932 in York, William was a son to the late John and Verna (Lentz) Brenneman. He graduated from West York High School, Class of 1950. He then went on to graduate from York Jr. College in 1957 and from Elizabethtown College with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, William began his career in banking with The York Bank & Trust Co., retiring in 1994. During his 35 years at York Bank he managed various offices throughout York County. Upon his retirement he was Assistant Vice President and Manager of the East Market Street office. Mr. Brenneman served our country for four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the West York VFW Post 8951 and the Hawks Gunning Club. He served as Director and Treasurer of York County Solid Waste Authority, and as past President of Wrightsville Rotary Club and American Banker’s Association. Mr. Brenneman was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School for 15 years and was a past member of the church council. William enjoyed spending time with his family at his beach home in Rehoboth Beach, DE, where he loved to fish and crab. In addition to his wife, Marie, Mr. Brenneman is survived by a son, William E. Brenneman and his wife Denice of York; a daughter, Sharon Myers and her husband Scott of New Freedom; four grandchildren, Seth and Lauren Brenneman, Daniel Myers and Lisa (Myers) Sturiano; four great grandchildren, Giada, Dominic and Mia Myers, and Elyse Sturiano.
