William E. “Bill” Swartz, 77, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was the companion of Carla J. (Lentz) Stough with whom he spent the last 23 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2PM, Monday, May 2, 2022 at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Rd, York. Officiating the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Joshua Rhone. A viewing will be held from 1-2PM, Monday at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born March 11, 1945 in York, he was a son of late Curtis G. Swartz, Donaline (Finneyfrock) Brown and her husband Luther. He was employed with Standard Register in shipping and receiving for several years until his retirement. Bill also owned a lawn care business which he operated for many years. A United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was also a member of West York VFW and the Viking Athletic Assoc. He loved spending time at his cabin “Misty Pines” and visiting the “Lucky Seven Camp” in Forksville, Sullivan Co. Mr. Swartz is also survived by a daughter, Debra S. Swartz of Dover; four grandchildren, Avery L. Handy of York, James D. Johnson of York, Jacob B. Stough of York and Ashley N. Shultz of York; former wife and close friend, Susan E. (Rohrbach) Swartz; daughter-in-law, Providence Swartz; nieces, Kim Wilson and Kristine Hamilton and nephew, Jeff Schroll. He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Swartz and two sisters, Donna Brown and Susan Wilson.
