YORK - William D. Miller, 74, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at his residence. He was the husband of Florence M. [Bortner] Miller to whom he was married for 54 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 7, 2008 at West York Church of the Brethren, 5101 Darlington Road, York with his Elder, Douglas M. Miller officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Saturday at the Church. Private burial will be held at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born March 7, 1934 in Wellsville a son of Beatrice [Wickey] Miller of York and the late William W. Miller, he had worked for Naval Ordinance Plant and AMF in York and then retired from Harley Davidson, Inc. He was a member of Lancaster Liederkranz and Polkateers; White Rose Polka Dancers; Shiloh American Legion; Life member of VFW; Tin Can Soldiers Alumni; and the Hawks Gunning Club. Mr. Miller also enjoyed taking joyrides on his motorcycle and had been a Boy Scout Leader at Pleasureville Pack 62. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Miller is survived by a daughter, Kathie E. and husband Martin Straubel of York; three sons, David W. Miller of York, Keith E. "Zeke" and wife Kathleen S. Miller of Dover, and Danny L. Miller of York; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Sherman Miller of York; and two sisters, Carol Stover of Dover and Faye Myers of Thomasville.
