William D. Mendoza

WILKES-BARRE-William (Bunky) D. Mendoza, 70, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday evening at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 6, 1938, he was a son of Catherine (Roberts) Mendoza, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Jesse Frank Mendoza. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Navy as a radio operator. Mr. Mendoza was formerly employed as an electrical line worker. He was a member of the I.B.E.W., American Legion Post 213,Sussex, NJ; and the Elks, Sussex, NJ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, who passed away in 2003; brothers Richard Mendoza and James Mendoza. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sons, Vincent Mendoza, Courtdale; Christopher Mendoza, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; daughters Kim Mendoza, Wilkes-Barre; Dawna Nidoh, Clarks Summit; Laura Cunningham, Swoyersville; 8 grandchildren; brothers Gilbert Mendoza and Manuel Mendoza, both of Wilkes-Barre; sisters Sarah Wells, Chambersburg; Christina Hampel, Shavertown; Rebecca Davenport, Plymouth; Regina Walkowiak, Wilkes-Barre. Services will be held Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in Beemerville Cemetery, Beemerville, New Jersey.
