EAST RENOVO - William Clair Bowes, 86, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Bucktail Medical Center, S. Renovo where he was a patient for 3 weeks. Born May 7, 1920 in Blanchard he was the son of the late Clair & Janet (Smith) Bowes. He was married to the former June D. Myers on November 24, 1949 they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Mr. Bowes worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail as an engineer retiring after 40 years. He was a member of Renovo First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #442, V.F.W., Masonic Lodge #495, the former Kiwanis Club all of Renovo. He was also a member of the Western Clinton County Sportsmen's Association, Smokehouse Hollow Lodge, National Rifle Association. He was a 1938 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. Mr. Bowes served in the Army Air Force during World War II as Tech Sgt. Surviving are his loving wife: One Son Craig W. (Cecelia) Bowes of Farwell Four daughters: Pamela J. (Edward) Kormanec of E. Renovo, Brenda G. Grotzinger, Elizabethville, Carol A. Kell of Duncannon and Shari L. (Glenn) Deaven of Harrisburg Eight grandchildren (Edward, Paula, Heather, David, John, Keith, Craig and Janetta) Three great-grandchildren (Jacob, Jason and Robert) One Foster Brother Leonard Schilling of State College. He was preceded in death by a grandson Michael W. Bowes in 1998 and Two Brothers Charles, James and also One Sister Caroline Lauback. The funeral will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 127 Seventh Street, Renovo with Pastor James Wooster officiating. Friends and relatives will be received from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo and also at the church one hour prior to the service. A Masonic service will be held 7:45 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at North Bend Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to Bucktail Medical Center of Renovo First United Methodist Church.
