Red Lion—William C. "Just Plain Bill" McKinley, 78, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Union Hospital of Cecil County in Elkton, Maryland. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Waltimyer) McKinley to whom he was married for 60 years. A celebration of life service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. David Mosebrook, of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, and from 9-10 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Red Lion Cemetery. Born October 15, 1930 in Chanceford Township, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Velma E. (Shaull) McKinley. He graduated from Red Lion High School with the class of 1948. For several years, he was the proprietor of Bill's Used Cars, Scorpion Snowmobile's and CB Repair and Service and than from 1964-1971 he was the Sheriff of York County. He became a York County Commissioner in 1972, a position he proudly held until 1987. He was also employed by Warner's Moving and Storage for 22 years and currently owned McKinley Enterprise Private Detective Agency. A member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Rotary Club of York and Faith Baptist Church in Felton, he was also the President of Country Ridge Home Owner's Association and a former board member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. McKinley is also survived by three daughters, B. Joyce McKinley Ford of Sebastian, Fla, Gloria S. McKinley Campbell and her husband, Stephen R. Campbell, of Felton and Sharon E. McKinley Wishard and her husband, Gregory L. Wishard, of Felton, four grandchildren, Zachary J. Campbell and his wife, Kimberly Aylward Campbell of Memphis, MO, SSG Nathan C. Wishard and his wife Jessica VanVleet Wishard of Felton, and Andrea L. Campbell and Tiffany A. Wishard, both of Felton, and two great grandchildren, Katelin A. Parsons and Hannah L. Campbell, both of Memphis, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 53 Main Street, Felton, Pa 17322.
