Watch Video Tribute Dallastown—William A. Towson, 69, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at his residence in York Township. He was the husband of Sandra F. (Johnson) Towson, to whom he was married for 49 years. A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with his pastor, the Rev. Thomas Sanagorski, officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born January 7, 1940 in New Park, he was a son of the late Wilmer S. and Evelyn (Shanbarger) Towson. He graduated from Kennard Dale High School with the class of 1957. His first employment was with the PA Department of Highways, where he worked as a materials inspector and dispatcher. He started his career as a business owner, opening Mr. Bill's Boys and Men's Wear and later found his passion for the restaurant business. He owned and operated restaurants in the York area for 40 years and had a seafood stand at the York Fair for over 25 years. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Spry, the Free and Accepted Masons, Red Lion Lodge, Shriners, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, OABA Restaurant Assoc., and was a former member of the Jester's and Lafayette Club. He loved animals, traveling and was formerly active as a pilot and enjoyed boating. In addition to his wife, Mr. Towson is also survived by two sons, Greg L. Towson of Windsor and Chris F. Towson of Knoxville, TN, one grandson, Jeriah Towson of Knoxville, TN, one sister, Dorothy A. Bulette and her husband, Edwin, of Fawn Grove and his dog and best friend, Bliss. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
