YORK – Willard N. Starner, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. He was the husband of the late Evelyn L. (Rife) Starner. It was Bill’s request that he only have a graveside service. This will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2022 at Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Vicar Geoff Abendschoen will officiate the service. Friends and family will meet at the Mt. Rose Avenue entrance at 1:45 PM. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Bill's Tribute Service will be webcast on his obituary page at www.HeffnerCare.com Mr. Starner was born on June 4, 1930 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Winnemore W. and Alice E. (Haner) Starner. Bill was a Marine, a father; and a grandfather. He worked for Met-Ed for 34 years and loved to hunt and fish. Bill was a benefactor member of the NRA, had been a member of York-Adams Game & Fish Assoc., and was a longtime member of First Saint John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He believed in the Lord and is now at home with his Lord. Mr. Starner is survived by three sons, W. Norris Starner, Jr. and wife Karen Starner of York, Mark L. and wife Terri Starner of Columbia, and Clay D. and wife Karen Starner of La Plata, MD; three grandsons, Curtis, Kristopher, and Layton Starner; and a sister, Jean E. Mease of York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, Development Office, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601 or at www.hospiceandcomunitycare.org who cared for Bill in his last days.
