Wiliam V. Sock

Pottsville-William V. Sock, 72, of Elysburg, formerly of Pottsville and the Shamokin area, passed away Saturday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in Shamokin on August 27, 1938, he was a son of the late Florian and Minerva Christ Sock. Bill attended Shamokin high school prior to entering the Navy. He served on the U.S.S. San Pablo in the U.S. Navy. Bill worked as a cook for Coney Island (Yorkville) Pottsville and Shamokin for 50 years. He was of the Catholic Faith. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Sock, and his sister, Joan Purcell. Bill is survived by his wife, Deb Heni Sock, Elysburg; his four daughters, Barbara Buzza, wife of Henry, of Schuylkill Haven, Brenda Gerbino, wife of Mark, of Kutztown, Crystal Leiby, wife of Robert, of Pottsville, and Kimberly Blum, wife of Dale, of Pottsville; his two sons, William Sock, husband of Lori, of New Ringold, and David Sock, of Minersville; his stepson, Scott Golden, of Elysburg; his 10 grandchildren, Alison Frandsen, Grace Hallick, Dorian Rynard, Kenneth Frie, Jr., Jonathan Frie, Jeremy, Justin and Ryan Leiby, Jocelyn Blum and Nathan Sock; his 4 great grandchildren, Trent Hallick, Jordanna Frie, Dominic Rynard and Emmerson Frie; his sister, Jean Laczkowski, of Coal Twp.; his two brothers, Florian "Fuzzy" Sock, husband of Laura, of Milton, and Sam Sock, husband of Sandy, of Bloomsburg; his dog, Bear; many nieces andnephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11:00 A.M. at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & West Market Sts., Pottsville. Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
