YORK- Wilfried Muller, 91, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at Country Meadows York South. Wilfried is survived by his wife of 68 years, Brigitte E. (Heinrich) Muller. Mr. Muller was born in Heidelberg, Germany, on May 21, 1929, the son of the late Otto and Amalie (Linke) Muller. In his youth, Wilfried sang with the well-known Hallische Boys Choir. He earned his diploma from Franklin Stiftungen Boarding School in Halle, (East) Germany. On July 7th, 1951, he and Brigitte married and enjoyed nearly 69 loving years together. He relocated his wife and young daughter from a post-war Germany to the United States via an Eisenhower initiative to bring skilled Europeans to the U.S. They traveled across the Atlantic Ocean on the U.S.S. Harry Taylor, and were greeted by the Statue of Liberty on January 24, 1957. The Muller family was sponsored in this endeavor by the First Presbyterian Church of York, PA. After a highly successful career, he retired in 1990. Throughout his life, Wilfried was an avid sailor with the Baltimore Cruising Club, always with his first mate, Brigitte, at his side. Following his retirement, he greatly enjoyed extensive travel with his wife, and continued to enjoy sailing along with canoeing and kayaking. In addition, he continued to volunteer within the community. Genial and spirited, he was well-liked by everyone, and most of all, was a loving husband, father, and Opa.
