Wilbur Lee Hackett

YORK – Wilbur Lee Hackett, 87, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. He was the husband of the late Patricia Ann “Pat” (Gladfelter) Hackett. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Certified Celebrant, Betty Frey officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born July 14, 1926 in York a son of the late Charles E. and Mary Katherine (Lightner) Hackett, he served 20 years in the US Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following his retirement for the Navy, Mr. Hackett worked for Schmitt and Ault Paper Company and its successors until his retirement from Stone Container Co. He was a member of Shiloh American Legion. Mr. Hackett is survived by a daughter, Karen S. and husband Keith Heist of York; a son, Gary E. Hackett of Dover; two grandsons, Chad E. Heist and Brandon C. Hackett; a brother, David Hackett of Honeybrook, PA; a special cousin, Neil “Bud” Lokey of York; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Shirey.
