YORK- Werner H.F. Kittler, 75, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Julie A. (Miller) Daugherty Kittler to whom he was married 15 ½ years. A Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Dallastown Union Cemetery, with Pastor Ray E. Thompson officiating. Full military details will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born July 1, 1942 in Schweidnitz, Germany, Werner was a son of the late Karl and Emma (Noak) Kittler. Mr. Kittler served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in Korea. He worked as a truck driver, starting with Woolworth’s and later with Envirite of Pennsylvania. He drove for over 35 years until his retirement in 2009. Werner had many hobbies, including camping, making birdhouses and birdfeeders, and he loved to watch professional wrestling. Werner was a member of the German American Alpine Rose and the Shiloh America Legion. He had a passion for his work, for baking, and for great conversation. He was a kind, giving man, willing to do anything for anyone and will be dearly missed by all who knew him, loved him, and the many lives he touched. In addition to his wife, Julie, Mr. Kittler is survived by seven children, Karl Kittler of Dillsburg, Keith Kittler and his wife Heather of York; James E. Miller, Jr. of Glen Rock, Jodi Miller of Red Lion, Lisa Walker of MD, Michelle Preston of York, and Amy Cohen of VA; eight grandchildren, Adara Marie Kittler, Jamie Vernon of York, Jonathan Herbst of Hallam, Brittany Strine of York, Ashley Preston of York, and Lacy Walker of MD, Niki and Alex Hollis; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jacob Shoff, and Audrey Strine; a brother, Bernhardt Kittler of Germany, and a sister, Emmy Selting of Tucson, AZ. Along with his parents, Werner was preceded in death by a son, Richard Kittler. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of York, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406 or to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. Following the Graveside service there will be a Celebration of Life held at the Dallastown American Legion.
