Wayne Martz

Pottsville-Wayne Martz, 55, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday at his residence. Born in Pottsville, PA, on July 17, 1957, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Sonoski Martz. Wayne was a 1976 graduate of Pottsville High School. He worked for 18 years at O Z Gedney, Shoemakersville, most recently serving as the Quality Control Specialist. Wayne was a past member of the First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven. Wayne was a lifetime member of the Phoenix Fire Company, No. 2, Pottsville. Wayne is survived by his wife, Debra M. Shoener Martz, of Pottsville, with whom they celebrated 34 years of marriage on January 27th; His two daughters, Dana Callirgos, wife of Michael, of Pottsville, and Denise Webber, wife of Gerald, of Pottsville; his two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Audrianna Webber; his sister, Deborah McBreen, of Reading; his two brothers, William Martz, husband of Gwen, of Pottsville and Robert Martz, husband of Gina, of New Philadelphia; Close family friends, Jim and Cathy Carey, of Pottsville; several nephews. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday evening at 5:00 P.M. at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, 6th & West Market Streets, Pottsville. Family and friends may call on Wednesday evening from 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wayne’s memory may be sent to the Phoenix Fire Company, 200 East Norwegian Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.
