Wayne L. Estep

Wayne Lynn Estep, 71, of York entered in to rest Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the former husband of Bernice (Knaub) Estep. Born on December 19, 1936 in New Market, VA, he was the son of the late Catherine (Estep) Castiglia. He was a graduate of York High, class of 1955. He was the owner and operator of Wayne Optical Company of York until his retirement in 1996. In his earlier years, Wayne was active in the White Rose Motorcycle Club, volunteering his time along with his friends. He was an avid pool shooter and was considered to be one of the best in York County in the 1970's. He was a member of the Hawks Gunning Club, White Rose Motorcycle Club, Rooster Club, Prince AA, VFW 556, Shiloh Legion, and a life member the 12th Ward Democratic Club and the Viking Athletic Assoc. Wayne was well known for his light heartedness, quick wit and his ability to tell jokes. He was known by many as the life of the party. Wayne was the loving Father of Cheryl Corbett and her husband David and Shannon Estep and his wife Tamara, both of York. He was also the proud grandfather of Jarrod Hoffman and Austin Corbett. He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie (Estep) Hoffman. Following cremation, a celebration of his life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA 17408. Visitation will be from 9-1:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Viking Athletics Association on 318 N. Adams St., West York. In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Wayne, make someone laugh today and live your life to its fullest.
