Warren Richard Holloway

YORK- Warren Richard Holloway, 78, passed away September 12, 2009 at Manor Care South. He was much loved by family and friends for his caring heart and wonderful sense of humor. Mr. Holloway was the loving husband of Joan (Wirfel) Holloway, with whom he celebrated his 52nd wedding anniversary on September 7. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 15 at Otterbein United Methodist Church of Spry with the Reverend Tom Sanagorski officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born July 2, 1931 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of Charles and Frances (Kassner) Holloway. Mr. Holloway served our country for the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Holloway was a graduate of the High School of Commerce in Manhattan and earned his A.B.A in Accounting from Pace College. Before retirement he worked as an accountant at J.J. Newberry Co., an assistant controller for McCrory and as an accounts payable auditor for Howard Schultz/ PRG Group. Actively dedicated to community service, Mr. Holloway was a member of the Pyramid Lodge #490 F&AM, York Township Lion's Club and served as a volunteer for more than 10 years at Health South Rehab Hospital. He also was an active member of Otterbein United Methodist Church of Spry, where he was a former trustee and treasurer for over 20 years, sang in the men's ensemble Touchtones of Faith, and served in many volunteer capacities for the church. Along with his wife, Mr. Holloway is survived by a son, Scott and his wife Diana of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Karen Forsythe of York; two granddaughters, Amanda and Erin; a step-granddaughter, Christi Poland; and many nieces and nephews.
