MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Warren A. Hoover, 84, of York died, Monday, September 26, 2011 at Dallastown Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Marie C. (Orsino) Hoover. He leaves his companion Faith Welty. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 10-11 a.m. His pastor, The Reverend Phyllis J. Baum will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York, with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Hoover was born in Starview on May 8, 1927, the son of the late Albert R. and Virginia (Middleton) Hoover. He retired in 1965 as a Warrant Officer in the US Marine Corps. following 20 years of service. His second career was that of a Letter Carrier for 21 years and at retirement in 1987 was serving the Penn Oaks Development. He also worked for Reynolds and Whitcomb as a delivery driver. Mr. Hoover was a charter member of Hayshire United Church of Christ and a 1945 graduate of Manchester High School. He was a life member of Both Hellam V.F.W. Post 7045 and Victory Athletic Association. He was a member of Military Officers Association of America, National Association of Letter Carriers 509 in York, Chapter 331 of National Association of Federal Retired Employees in York, AARP, and Shiloh American Legion. Mr. Hoover leaves two daughters, Virginia M. Hoover of York and Patricia C. Hoover of York. Memorial contributions may be made to Hayshire United Church of Christ, 100 Haybrook Drive, York, PA 17406.
