Wanda M. (Moore) Rettew

YORK- Wanda M. (Moore) Rettew, 84, passed away Tueaday, April 19, 2016 at Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community in York. She was the wife of the late Reverend Edward W. Rettew. The couple were married 49 years before Edward’s passing in 2004. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, with Reverend David Brinker officiating. A public viewing will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private in Spies Zion Cemetery in Reading, PA. Born August 31, 1931 in Berwick, PA, Wanda was a daughter of the late Lawrence Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Hyde) Moore. She was a graduate of the class of 1951 Reading School of Nursing. Wanda was a member of the Dallastown Golden Age Club. She was a lover of gardening and music, and enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and directing many church choirs over the years. Mrs. Rettew was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown. She was full of faith, fun and frivolity. She was a teller of stories, even if they had no clear end. Wanda was able to precisely give directions to anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice. She was a woman who was always able to bring joy and a smile to those around her. Mrs. Rettew is survived by a son, David W. Rettew and his wife Cathy of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a daughter, Jean Ann Bogar and her companion Chuck Delker of Lewisberry; five grandchildren; a great grandchild, and a sister, Nancy M. Brooks of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to her husband and parents, Wanda was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary, Robert and Dean Moore. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E.
