Wanda J. Coffey

Red Lion – Wanda J. (Burg) Coffey, 65, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at York Hospital. She was the loving Wife of David W. Coffey with whom she would have celebrated 30 years of marriage on February 15th. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 28, 2022 at Freysville Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 1625 Windsor Rd., Red Lion with Rev. Rick Pulling and Rev. Eli Elisha officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Thursday at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 10-11:00 AM Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Freysville Union Cemetery. Born July 20, 1956 in Columbia, a daughter of the late Jesse Gene “Miz” and Mary (Matthew) Burg; she was a 1974 graduate of Eastern York High School. Wanda began as a floater of the York Bank and Trust Company before becoming a full-time employee, then afterwards continued her career with East Prospect State Bank and retiring with the Northwest Bank. She was an active member of Freysville Emmanuel UCC and the Senior Connections group at Wrightsville Assembly of God. Wanda enjoyed taking pictures, swimming, traveling with her husband, and watching Hallmark movies. She particularly loved going to the beach, watching it snow, and the Christmas season. In addition to her husband David, Mrs. Coffey is survived by her mother-in-law, Mildred Louise Coffey of Afton, VA; sister-in-law, Vivian Louise Day of Waynesboro, VA; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by two aunts, Eva Myers and Mildred “Sis” Ferree; and an uncle, John P. Matthew.
