TROY- Walter W. “Pete” Wright, 85, of Wetona, PA, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Towanda Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Polly R. (Clark) Wright. The couple married August 12, 1950 and had 61 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA. The memorial service to honor Pete’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 16th at the funeral home with pastors Jody Kenyon and Lavern Jackson officiating. Military honors will be given by the Troy Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be at the convenience of Pete’s family in Columbia Valley Cemetery. Pete was born on May 7, 1927 in Gillett, PA son of the late Chauncey D. and Bertha (Holton) Wright. He was a U.S. veteran who served his country at the end of World War II in the occupation of Japan. Both before and after the war Pete worked in the woods with his father. He later worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and after went to work for American Bridge in Elmira, NY, where he was an exporter for the company. In 1988, after 43 years of service Pete retired from American Bridge. He was a member of the Wetona United Methodist Church, and both the American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #8675 in Troy, PA. Pete was a lifetime member of the NRA and his passions were hunting and fishing. Pete is survived by his wife Polly, his children: David (Joann) Wright of Laceyville, PA, Donna (David) TenHoeve of Hillsdale, NJ, and Dale Wright and his companion Clare of Castile, NY, his grandchildren: Jamie (Mike) D’Amico, Camille (Russell) Brittel, Diana (Adam) Silverman, Lisa (Aaron) Craig, Joshua Wright, Sarah (Robert) Hageman, and Chelsea Wright, his great Grandchildren: Lizzy Wright, Jonathan Wright, Skyla Wright, Joseph D’Amico, Tyler Hageman, Gianna D’Amico, and Alana Silverman, his sisters: Jane Alexander of Elmira, NY, and Frances (Donald) Shaffer of Towanda, and his brother H. Donald (Betty) Wright of Elmira, along with several nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Chauncey “Jack” Wright, Jr., Albert Wright, Richard Wright, and his sister Ethel Pierce. Memorial contributions may be made in Pete’s memory to the Bradford County Humane Society P.O. Box 179 Ulster, PA 18850.
