Walter S. Tyson, Sr.

RED LION – Walter S. Tyson, Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty R. (Gilbert) Tyson. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 2-5:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home. Born June 20, 1934 in Felton, a son of the late Sterling and Edna (Goheen) Tyson, he retired from New Era Die. Mr. Tyson had also owned and operated Walt’s Spray. He enjoyed bowling at Lion Bowl for many years and going hunting. Walt was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Tyson is survived by a daughter, Crystal L. Moyer of Red Lion; a son, Walter S. Tyson, Jr. and wife Vicki of Windsor; four grandchildren, Candy Frey and husband Wayne, John Tyson and wife Heidi, Katie Moyer-Laucks and husband Jeremy, and Kole Moyer; three great grandchildren, Jacob and Kylie Frey, and Wyatt Tyson; three sisters, Mary Jamison of Red Lion, Linda Ness of Windsor, and Bonnie Winters of York; and three brothers, Nevin Tyson of Windsor and Harry and Ralph Tyson both of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Walker Tyson; two brothers, Donald and Harold Tyson; and four sisters, Leona Rae Tyson, Pauline Beaverson, Janet Pomraning and Fern Saylor.
