Walter R. Daugherty, Jr.

YORK- Walter R. Daugherty Jr., 82, passed Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Phyllis V. (Cook) Daugherty. The couple would have celebrated their 55th anniversary this June. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Born October 12, 1931 in Dallastown, Walter was the son of the late Walter R. Sr. and Olive (Whitekamp) Daugherty. He worked for over 40 years as a supervisor at New York Wire until he retired. Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to walk through the woods to feed the deer. In addition to his wife, Mr. Daugherty is survived by two sons, Michael A. Daugherty and his wife Linda of Wrightsville and Donald E. Heffner Jr. of Windsor; two daughters, Michele Smith and her husband Jerry of Berkeley Springs, WV and Sandra Brown of Felton; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Hake of Dallastown and Barbara Stegner of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
