Walter J. Segura

YORK-Walter J. Segura, 77, of Jackson Township, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of Elizabeth M. (Solis) Segura. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 19, 2023.

Services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mr. Segura was born in San Jose, Costa Rica; the son of the late Juan Luis and Vitalia (Sotro) Segura. He retired from BD Diagnostic Systems in Hunt Valley, MD where he was a material coordinator.

Mr. Segura attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in York. He was an avid soccer player and a huge fan of Costa Rica’s Soccer team, Saprissa. He was a hardworking and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved spending time with the family, cooking for them; and in the summer, playing outdoor games like ball ladder and cornhole for which he was very competitive.

Along with his wife, Mr. Segura leaves two daughters, Sarita S. McBride and her husband Derek of Red Lion and Maria J. Segura of York; three grandchildren, Derek James “DJ” McBride and his wife Susan, Giovanni McBride and his wife Kayla, and Isabella Suchinsky; three great grandchildren, Rick, Genesis, and Ezekiel; and two sisters, Cielo Morales and her husband Pedro of Costa Rica, and Perla Segura of Costa Rica. He was preceded in death by his son Jose P. Segura and seven brothers and sisters.
