Walter J. Fike, Sr.

RED LION – Walter J. Fike, Sr., 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 22, 2012. He was the husband of Phyllis L. (Fake) Fike to whom he was married for 45 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2012 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Pastor Patricia C. Bollinger officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Thursday and 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Fike was born July 18, 1948 in Lewistown, PA, a son of the late Robert Fike and the late Miriam (Snyder) and husband George “Elmer” Waltemyer. He was a retired mason. Mr. Fike was extremely proud of his 46 years of mason work and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved training horses and collected Breyer horses, many of which he would build custom wagons. He was a former member of the American Quarter Horse Assoc. He attended Water’s Edge U.M.C (previously Shenberger’s Chapel United Methodist Church.) In addition to his wife, Mr. Fike is survived by a daughter, Candy S. “Sis” and husband Edgar Dehoff of Red Lion; a son, Walter J. “Butch” Fike, Jr. and wife Darlene of Felton; two grandchildren, Daniel and wife Katie Kling and Jessica and husband Michael Minichino; two great granddaughters, Makayla and Alexis Minichino; a half-sister, Diane Cifaldo of Brogue; and four half-brothers, James Waltemyer of Windsor, Donald Waltemyer of Wrightsville, and Robert Waltemyer of Red Lion, and Edward Fike of Lewistown. He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Buck Fike. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Water’s Edge U.M.C., 469 Ables Rd., Wrightsville, PA 17368 or to New Bridgeville Fire Co., 2870 Furnace Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356.
