York—Walter J. Fahs, 71 died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Brunswick at Longstown. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 22, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with the Rev. David W. Slautterback, officiating. Viewing will be Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday, from 9 to 10 a.m., Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born April 22, 1938 in York, he was a son of the late Paul E. and Pauline (Roderick) Fahs. He was employed from 1960 to 2005 in construction as a Superintendent/Foreman, for several companies, including, Nooco Contractors, High Steel and Foreman Corp. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a life member of Yorkana Game and Gun Club, and served as their Secretary, Treasurer, a member of the Yellow Breeches Fish and Game, Union County Sportsmen Club, and Springfield Famers Dog Training. He was also a 35 year member of the Free Accepted Masons-Riverside Lodge 503-Wrightsville, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon-York Forest and for several years was a United States Navy Reservist. Mr. Fahs is survived by a daughter, Julie L. Fahs of York, a son, Jeffrey L. Fahs of York, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, one brother, Richard A. Fahs, and nieces and nephews, Terri, Lori and Michael. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Fahs.
